The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions.
The Foundation is a European Union body, established in 1975 to contribute to the planning and design of better living and working conditions in Europe. It seeks to provide information, advice and expertise - on living and working conditions, industrial relations and managing change in Europe - for key actors in the field of EU social policy on the basis of comparative information, research and analysis.

It has an interactive database (EurLIFE) available on its website. This database addresses quality of life in Europe, offering data drawn from the Foundation's own surveys and from other published sources.

This paper investigates the extent to which the Irish higher education system promotes inclusion or diversion in relation to social selectivity. In doing so, stratification processes are examined for two educational outcomes: inequality in the type of higher education institution attended (institutional differentiation) and the level of qualification pursued at higher education (qualification differentiation).

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2007: The Irish Report
(published July 15, 2008)
The Irish Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Report for 2007 found that Ireland continues to be one of the leading EU countries in terms of early stage entrepreneurship. Overall, the research found that 8.2% of the adult population living in Ireland is engaged in entrepreneurial activity, an increase on the 2006 level of 7.4%. The 2007 report also shows a significant increase in the number of women entrepreneurs, with women's entrepreneurial activity rising to 5.9% in 2007 from 4.2% in 2006.

The Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) measures policies to integrate migrants in 25 EU Member States and 3 non-EU countries. It uses over 100 policy indicators to create a multi-dimensional picture of migrants' opportunities to participate in European societies. A conference on "Social capital and job creation in rural Europe" was held in Lisbon on 8-9 November, 2007. The event was organised by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) in cooperation with the European Commission's Leader+ Observatory, the Leader+ Portuguese Network and the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry.
