Policy issues concerning Governance

Government has published the report of the working group on citizen engagement with local government, which recommends that a People’s Participation Network, (PPN) be established in every Local Authority area to ensure extensive input by citizens into the decision-making process at local government level.

There are two questions concerning Ireland in 2014 and beyond that are not being addressed in a satisfactory manner at present i.e.

In recent decades little attention has been paid to issues concerning the future. However, the future, how it should be shaped and who should be involved in shaping it has never been more significant. Since 2007 the world’s economy has been in turmoil and our political systems have failed to deal with these difficulties in a fair and just manner. Questions regarding the shape of Ireland’s future are now critically important.
