On the 31st January 2024, Social Justice Ireland hosted The Social Justice Movement–A Fifty Year View conference to mark the retirement of Dr Seán Healy and Sr Brigid Reynolds of Social Justice Ireland and to celebrate their more than fifty years of public service in Ireland and Africa. John McGeady, CEO of Social Justice Ireland welcomed attendees followed by the Opening Address given by President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins.

Olivia O’Leary, writer, broadcaster and journalist chaired the first session with Professor Michele Dillon, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of New Hampshire,USA and Tony Fahey, Professor Emeritus of Social Policy in University College Dublin. 

Mick Clifford, author, investigative journalist and columnist chaired the second session with Dr Micheál L. Collins, economist and Assistant Professor of Social Policy at the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice, UCD, Dr Catherine Kavanagh, Lecturer in Economics at University College Cork and Dermot McCarthy, retired public servant.
