Government Action Plan for Community Response to COVID-19

The Government has produced an Action Plan for Community Response to COVID-19 providing supports for Community and Voluntary organisations as they meet the challenge of supporting the most vulnerable.

The three key actions contained in this Action Plan are:

1. Encourage and facilitate volunteering – in partnership with Volunteer Ireland, 22 Volunteer Centres and 7 Volunteer Information Services, supported by Local Development Companies, particularly for those organisations who face an increase in demand for services and a possible decrease in volunteers and staff (due to self isolating / being sick etc.).
2. Provide community supports for older people – in partnership with ALONE.
3. Establish a helpdesk facility for local community groups – in partnership with the 31 Public Participation Networks nationwide.
