SETU & SJI invite learners to access standalone modules from the MA in Social Justice and Public Policy

Applications are open for learners who wish to audit independent modules from the MA in Social Justice and Public Policy.
This option is particularly suitable for learners who want to explore university-level learning without the pressure of completing a full programme of study; want to engage in personal and professional development for policy and justice work and want to stay intellectually engaged or follow their curiosity.
Available from January 2026
Economics and Social Policy 1 (10 ECTS)
This module aims to help learners understand key concepts underpinning social and economic policy. They will develop an awareness of major policy-making processes and understand the outcomes of social and economic policy, how these interact and how they emerge from the policy-making process.
Blended delivery comprising 12 1.5 hour sessions over five days between January and May 2026

Prophetic Traditions of Social Justice (5 ECTS)
Learners will develop a critical awareness of the dynamics of prophetic traditions in a selection of religious, spiritual, and wisdom traditions. They will analyse parallels and divergences between historical and contemporary prophecy. They will explore prophecy through a multidisciplinary understanding by drawing on insights from, literature, psychology, feminism, anthropology, and the arts. The will apply insights from the Prophetic Tradition to their own engagement with issues of social justice in a way that impacts on public policy.

Start date: Thursday, 22nd January 2026 at 4pm online via Zoom
Advocacy, Community Organising, and Networking for Social Justice (5 ECTS)
This module aims to help students to understand the theories and practices of strategic thinking and the core steps needed for a successful planning process. They will use applied strategic planning process steps and be helped to apply strategic planning concepts and tools to their field placement to help achieve corporate goals and objectives in meeting the organisation's mission. They will use planning to analyse marketing opportunities based on the host organisation's mission.

All in person sessions are located at the Carmelite Community Centre, 56 Aungier Street, Dublin 2
Applicants who apply will undertake a single validated module(s) but will not complete a full programme of study on the MA Social Justice and Public Policy programme. The applicant will be registered as a part-time student.
